Let’s work together

We seek to make immigrants aware of their rights

FLPIR is totally volunteer-run. If you can commit to a couple of hours or more per month, we have a spot for you.  You can help at workshop presentations, film showings, Red Card tables, and more.

    Staffing “Know-Your-Rights” presentations

Together with East Bay Sanctuary Covenant, we have been able to train over 800 participants in 7 Immigrant “Know Your Rights” Workshops. Volunteers are an important part of keeping these trainings going. We will continue to need volunteers as we expand these presentations to new communities and venues.

  • Red & Yellow Card Campaign

Volunteers have also been staffing tables in Oakland and Berkeley to distribute Red & Yellow Cards in Spanish and other languages. So far we have distributed over 110,000 cards. Volunteers are needed to help staff tables and distribute cards.

  • Urgent Action Alerts

We are collaborating with other immigrant rights organizations to mobilize calls to action in defense of immigrant rights.  Keep tuned to FLP Urgent Action mailings  to be informed of crucial legislative battles and key demonstrations in real time.  Together our efforts can make a difference!

  • Immigration Court

    Court Watch!

Observe hearings to help assure due process rights in the courtroom are respected. Help protect immigrants legal rights if they are stopped by ICE upon leaving the courthouse. Sessions take place in Concord and San Francisco. Join a cluster with other volunteers. A minimum commitment of 4 daytime hours, once per month is required.

  • Asylum Applications

There is a critical need for bilingual volunteers to assist asylum seekers in completing their asylum applications. Volunteers must be proficient or fluent in English and another language (Spanish being in highest demand) as well as have patience and empathy. They will be provided with a toolkit which includes training and resources to help with the process.
