Terrenos Fuera Y Dentro (Inner and Outer Terrains)is a three-channel video installation documenting La Caminata Nocturna, a participatory reenactment of a border crossing into the U.S. created as an immersive experience for tourists. In this staged journey, tourists step into the roles of migrants, while local residents—many with harrowing experiences of migration—play the menacing roles of gang members, narcos, and border patrol agents. This innovative documentary raises critical questions about whether these reenactments serve as exploitation or a means of survival and agency for those involved.
Sui Generis (by itself, one of a kind) is the story of a young boy who crosses the US/Mexico border. Like many others, he leaves everything behind and faces a future of many incarnations. Whatever his path, he discovers the border is always there, changing form, a different barrier for every dream. Music and lyrics by The Dandelion War (2010).
Proceeds from this event will benefit Alameda County Immigration Legal and Education Partnership (ACILEP)
ACILEP is a collaborative project providing rapid response, legal services, community education, and emergency support for individuals facing detention, deportation, and other urgent immigration-related needs. The ACILEP hotline responds to real time ICE activity or detentions to mobilize advocacy teams and assist individuals at risk of deportation. Partner organizations offer workshops and trainings in the community to equip undocumented individuals and their families with the tools to defend their rights, keep families together, and challenge the systemic inequities within the immigration system.
